Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How long will freshly cut sod keep before installation?

Fresh sod is a highly perishable product: the warmer the outside temperature, the less time you have to leave sod idle. During the hottest months of the year, you may have as little as 2 to 4 hours before the core temperature of the sod and the outside temperature combine to cause heat damage. For this reason, we recommend that you install immediately after you receive the sod. Once laid, the sod will need an immediate soaking to cool the turf and initiate root penetration.

How late in the year can I install sod?

You can install sod until the ground has frozen.
